Geneva Business School - Doctorate Program

It has been designed to meet the needs of candidates who have been or those who are keen on working in areas related to business and finance development that can draw on their everyday practice and work contexts to work towards a doctorate. Its structure of taught and independent elements allows a student to draw on the range of experiences of fellow-students and the faculty members in a mutually supportive environment.

The research departments aim for the candidates to stimulate and undertake certain activities of Research and Development (R&D), to tackle various areas and to master the transfer of the acquired knowledge to a group of private partnership companies.

Candidate would essentially propose these different techniques and strategies to the selected companies and advise as to how to set up and implement these innovative ideas. Candidate would also be responsible for constantly liaising with these companies regarding methods for updating any techniques and providing the maximum amount of relevant material possible.

The Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy) is the most common type of research doctorate and is offered by GBS to students who have already gained a vast amount of knowledge in 1 or more of the 3 fields mentioned below. It allows students to carry out extensive research and to acquire competency as an independent researcher; to design and conduct research and to disseminate the outcomes to others in the related field.

Objectives:

• Each specific field of research at doctorate level is represented by a separate department, the 3 principal areas of research that a Ph. D. student will be involved in are outlined below:
• The Centre of International Finance:
  Responsible for the creation of research tasks along with the economic analysis for variousbanks and International Finance Corporations.Analysis management of small-scale portfolios for various banks, finance companies and individuals.
• The Centre of Strategic Management:
  The creation of strategic management research tasks and development for various local and international companies(BultechSA etc.)creation of work for strategic development for various international organizations.
• The Centre of Strategic Marketing:
  Realization of work and presentations at the time of international fairs of the modern strategies of marketing (e.g. FIF Algiers, FIF Moscow).

Program Schedule:

The average duration of the Doctorate program varies between 3 and 5 years. A minimum of 3 major publications are required and will be assessed by the heads of the 3 centers and the panel of judges. After completion of these major publications, the student must also defend his reports in front of a panel of judges. Following this, the successful student will be awarded the Ph. D. from BMU.

Admission Requirements:

• A candidate for the doctorate program must have excellent results from their Masters degree in Finance or Management with an average GPA of (5.0 out of 6.0) from GBS or from an alternative accredited university.Amature behavior previous teaching experience and a great inclination for research is highly recommended. An application form is available upon request. A candidate with a GMAT score of 550 or above would be preferential. A good level of English is also a necessity It will be common for the student to liaise and communicate
