Beau Soleil is situated in the south-eastern part of French-speaking Switzerland, in the Canton of Vaud. It is perched at an altitude of 1'300 metres and enjoys a magnificent panorama to the south, overlooking the Rhône valley. Mont-Blanc, the Dents-du-Midi and the French Alps are distinctive landmarks on the horizon. Beau Soleil aims to provide its students with a comprehensive education – intellectual, physical, emotional and social – in order to develop their critical awareness and anappreciation of personal effort and self-discipline. The three main cornerstones of our education are: A balanced and personalised curriculum combining academic studies, sports, expeditions and participation in artistic activities, which recognises students’ individual talents, fosters their intellectual, creative and sporting strengths and opens their minds, enabling them to realise their full potential. A stable family community built on traditional values and founded upon respect which promotes cultural diversity and exchange, and enables students to develop their emotional and inter-personal skills. An environment of outstanding natural beauty in the Swiss Alps providing a secure setting in which students may grow and flourish happily and healthily. Beau Soleil offers two distinct, parallel systems: a French Section and an International Section. French Section The classes in the French Section extend from 6ème to Terminale, and prepare students for the official French government examinations - the Diplôme National du Brevet at the end of 3ème and the French Baccalaureate (series L, ES and S) at the end of Terminale. The subjects taught in the French Section conform to the requirements of the French Ministry of Education. English is compulsory at all levels except Terminale. Students in 6ème are offered an introduction to Spanish, German and Italian (one language per term). One of these subjects is compulsory from 4ème upwards. In 1ère and Terminale additional languages (Arabic, Catalan, modern Greek, Polish for example) may be taken on either as private lessons or under the external auspices of the CNED.International Section The classes in the International Section extend from 6th Grade to 12th Grade, and prepare students for the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) at the end of 10th Grade and the International Baccalaureate (IB) and High School Diploma at the end of 12th Grade. Subjects other than languages are taught in English. About Beau Soleil Private SchoolSince 1910 the de Meyer family has contributed, year after year, to the education of Beau Soleil students, laying particular emphasis on the development of respect. Respect for oneself, for others and for the environment in its widest sense are seen as the indispensible ingredients of harmonious existence within a community.
