Private school Beau Soleil located in the Swiss Alps. Founded in 1910, Beau Soleil is one of the oldest Swiss establishments of worldwide renown, and is currently owned and run by the third successive generation of the same family. "At Beau Soleil, we are of the conviction that a student confronting failure must assume full responsibility and not look for excuses. Students are encouraged to learn and grow from the experience. The real failure is not in slipping, but in failing to pick oneself up." "Beau Soleil aims to provide its students with a complete education – intellectual, physical, emotional and social – in order to develop their sense of values and to show them the importance of personal effort and self-discipline." The three cornerstones of our education are : A balanced and personalised curriculum , combining academic studies, sports and artistic activities. It recognises students' individual talents, cultivates their intellectual, sporting and creative strengths and encourages open-mindedness, so that all can attain their full potential. The programme of studies taught in English or French combines academic subjects up to university entrance level with a holistic framework, providing art, music, drama, sports and expeditions for personal development.
A stable family community founded on traditional values. It promotes respect, fosters the celebration of social and cultural diversity and empowers students to develop their emotional and interpersonal qualities. Since 1910 the de Meyer family has contributed, year after year, to the education of Beau Soleil students, laying particular emphasis on the development of respect. Respect for oneself, for others and for the environment in its widest sense are seen as the indispensible ingredients of harmonious existence within a community. A team of some 40 competent and skilled teachers are dedicated not merely to teaching but to educating the boys and girls who will shape the future. Our main objective at Beau Soleil is to offer students a safe, family-oriented and challenging educational setting in which to work and mature. Irrespective of race and religion, students from more than 40 countries come to study at Beau Soleil. In this microcosm they discover for themselves that their peers have different habits and customs, and thus acquire a better understanding of the real world. Community life provides the framework for promoting an active sense of responsibility, respect, discipline and an acceptance of social codes of conduct. The school recognizes that no two students have identical levels of experience, aptitude and interest in a specific area. The school curriculum therefore offers a wide range of opportunities for every student to find and develop their strengths during their time at the school. Students are constantly impelled into tackling new challenges. These may be academic, physical, creative, social or humanitarian, in order that all students develop into harmonious, well-rounded individuals.
