MIDDLE SCHOOL

The Middle School was established to cater specifically for the important period of the students’ transition from Primary level to the more examination-orientated High School courses. In the English Language Section we have a common core of study in all the major academic disciplines. It is our policy at the collage du leman Geneva Swiss boarding schools to encourage every student to rapidly gain a sound basis in French. The Middle School faculty is made up of staff with experience of the particular needs of the 11 – 14 year age group. It is our conviction as educators, that at this stage students should discover a special area of interest or particular talent: we have a responsibility to develop such curiosity.

The Middle school programme aims to make the most of the wonderful backcloth that our host country and Geneva, in particular, does provide. The curriculum also offers many opportunities to learn from the diverse cultures and backgrounds of our student body. At our Geneva Swiss boarding schools A wide variety of field trips, museum visits and excursions ensure that our courses are frequently based on the students’ personal “hands-on” experience and self-discovery. An equivalent programme is also offered in our French section.

Middle School students are taught 35 lessons (45 mins.) every week. The coursework in Grades 6, 7 and 8 provides a challenge for each student to meet his or her potential and develop a sound academic basis.
