PRIMARY SCHOOL PROGRAMMES
The Anglo-American Swiss boarding schools Section of the Primary School is using an approach based on the Primary Year Program of the International Baccalauréat Organization. The aim Prominent Lake Geneva College of this program is to develop independent learners who approach learning in a thoughtful, caring and principled way. As a result, the emphasis is on inquiry through the study of themes that cut across traditional subjects, incorporating them in studying broad issues at our devaloped Swiss schools. Generally, there are six themes that are studied at each grade level. The Units of Inquiry recur with different topics and higher levels of expectations at each Grade level. In this way, fundamental learning is reinforced, while the students gain greater confidence in conducting their own research.
Additionally,French is compulsory for all students, once an acceptable level of fluency in English is established. Students are placed according to their degree of fluency in French. The school has two fulltime ESL specialists, a School Psychologist and Learning Support for students with moderate levels of special needs.
The Primary School attempts to take advantage of the rich cultural environment in which we exist and attempts to find ways to learn from one another and to celebrate our differences and our similarities.
