Summer Course 2012

During the summer vacation, Brillantmont offers intensive French or English classes and the opportunity to play many sports and take part in lots of fun activities and trips in Switzerland.

Dates: Saturday 30th June to Saturday 11th August 2012

Ages: For boys and girls aged 11-16

Duration: Flexible choice of stay from two to six weeks(arrivals and departures on Saturdays)

Price: CHF 1’750 – per week, all inclusive.

The price includes:

• 20 periods of language classes (choice of French or English) per week;
• weekly class field trip every Wednesday afternoon to visit a well-known Swiss attraction;
• afternoon sports classes four afternoons per week (range of sports);
• various evening activities (e.g., rollerblading, ice skating, bowling, cinema);
• full day excursion / activity on Sunday (e.g., rock climbing, tree circuit, salt mines);
• full board and excellent accommodation on the school campus;
• all transfers to and from Geneva airport or Lausanne train station (Saturdays only);
• 24H /24H supervision and care by experienced, qualified staff;
• accident insurance.

The families and students can choose the dates of the summer program as they wish.

Pocket money

Students provide their own pocket money which must be deposited in the school safe.

Financial conditions

An admission fee of CHF.1500 (deducted from the final balance) is required. The student’s place is reserved only after this sum hasbeen paid. The student’s place will be confirmed in writing and the final invoice will be sent, which must be paid before 15th June2012.

In case of cancellation, the admission fee will not be refunded. In case of expulsion or early departure, no refund will be given. VATis added to the invoice and is calculated according to the law for Swiss boarding schools.

Every morning is given over to the study of French or English. A variety of teaching methods are used. Wednesday afternoons are devoted to class cultural excursions. On the other 4 afternoons a week, a variety of sports activities are organised. Every Sunday a full day 'fun' excursion is organised. During our summer school, the students are looked after 24 hours a day. The minimum stay is 2 weeks, the maximum 6 weeks and students arrive and depart on a Saturday.

Extra-curricular activities

Lausanne is a very rich cultural centre where a broad network of Physical and cultural education plays a major part in the life of our school.

The natural setting and sporting facilities of Brillantmont are ideal for tennis, basketball, volleyball, football and hockey. Teachers often take their students into the nearby forests where they can enjoy cycling, jogging and cross-country skiing.

On the shores of the lake there are also opportunities for windsurfing, swimming and a range of other water-based activities.

Within the school, around a dozen activities are offered to students, including music, ballet, theatre, photography, as well as information technology, cookery, art, film and media.
