Course outline

During the winter, Brillantmont offers an intensive French programme for boys and girls aged 12-17, which includes French classes, visits to local places of interest and weekend ski trips. Students are accommodated on the Brillantmontcampus, in shared rooms, many of which overlook Lake Léman and the Alps. The small size of the school and the homely environment allows them to quickly settle and make friends amongst the 40 different nationalities represented.

Course programme

22 hours of French per week :

• language – grammar, structure, literature, authentic materials
• interactive language laboratory and internet work
• conversation workshops to improve fluency
• off-campus workshops (visits to local places of interest*)

Day trip to Berne, the Swiss capital

Day trip to Geneva

Sports classes

Weekend ski trip to a famous Swiss ski resort

*The off campus workshops usually include trips to Gruyères cheese factory and village; a Swiss chocolate factory; Chillon castle; Alimentarium food museum in Vevey; Olympic museum; Photo museum in Vevey and others.

How to apply

The completed application form should be sent to the school along with the results of any official French language examination taken. We may ask for a placement test to be taken prior to arrival, to determine the language ability of the student.

If we accept the student into our Winter Course, we confirm the acceptance in writing and ask for an admission deposit of CHF 1’500.-- to be paid. The student’s place is reserved only when this payment has been received.

Once the admission deposit has been received by the school, it is not refunded in case of cancellation.

Fees for the Winter Course 2012

Core course : CHF 8’250.--

The core course includes :

• all on campus and sports classes
• full board and lodging (7 days a week)
• use of school equipment (computers, pianos, language laboratories, pool tables, DVD players, etc.), internetaccess

Fixed charges : CHF 1’500.--

The fixed charges include :

• stationery 
• expenses incurred during the off-campus workshops 
• all ski or snowboard trips organized by the school 
• health and accident insurance
• residency permit and taxes

In addition to the fees indicated above, the admission deposit of CHF 1’500.— and the student’s pocket money must be paid :

Admission deposit

The admission deposit of CHF 1’500.-- is used to cover the student’s personal expenses during his/her stay at Brillantmont. The final account is established one month after the end of the stay and any remaining balance is reimbursed.

The admission deposit also covers the following expenses :

• extracurricular activities organized by the school 
• rental of ski or snowboard material
• transfers to and from Geneva airport 
• other expenses expressly authorized by parents and organized by the school

Pocket money

Pocket money is kept in the school safe and is given to the students on a regular basis.The amount of weekly pocket money the student is to receive should be decided before arrival and indicated on the application form. We recommend a weekly amount of between CHF 30.-- and CHF 100.-- maximum.

Payment terms

 - the admission deposit of CHF 1’500.-- must be paid upon receipt of the confirmation letter

 - the total amount (the Core Course, Fixed Charges, Pocket money and VAT) must be paid before 10thDecember 2011 at the latest.
