International Relations

In today’s changing world, political and economic problems almost invariably transcend national boundaries. The international agenda encompasses scientific, technological, cultural and humanitarian concerns as well as more traditional areas of diplomatic study. Therefore it is imperative that students have a broad background, including history, economics, political science and international relations in order to be well-prepared to face more specific challenges in their chosen area of focus. The American university liberal arts system in use at SIUACS, with its first 2 years of broad study followed by a final two years of more focused study, is a perfect match for students of international relations. The program equips students with the expertise they need to be able to pursue careers with international organizations, in law, business or journalism, or to move on to graduate study in political science and international relations, via use of case studies, negotiation simulations, guest lecturers and on-site visits which introduce real world content whenever possible into courses. The International Relations program at SIUACS offers all necessary preparation for a student intending an outstanding career in international relations.
